When it comes to removing unwanted hair, laser and IPL are popular methods of hair removal.
The dermal team at our Geelong and Ballarat clinics use one of the latest medical grade laser hair removal systems, the Clarity II laser hair removal.
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser uses a beam of light to penetrate your skin and the light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. The heat damages the hair follicle inhibiting further growth.
Combining two advanced laser wavelengths—755 nm and 1064 nm, the Clarity II advanced hair removal system by Lutronic, can be customised according to skin tones and hair types. The dual technology targets hair follicles precisely while protecting surrounding skin, making treatments comfortable with minimal downtime.
How does laser hair removal compare to IPL?
Both laser and IPL produce energy to disrupt the growth of each hair follicle to reduce hair growth. However, this is where the similarity ends. Lasers use the exact wavelength needed to effectively treat the hair in each pulse. IPL uses hundreds of wavelengths in each pulse which only serve to heat up the skin making results less accurate than laser. At Australian Skin Face Body, we insist on the very best technology to achieve perfect results and use the Clarity II by Lutronic. We only carry out laser hair reduction treatments as a medical grade laser can be far more effective than IPL hair removal and may be less painful.
Am I a suitable candidate for laser hair removal?
Our system combines two laser types in one device, allowing us to fully customise each treatment to suit your skin type.
Laser hair removal typically works best on dark hair and light skin. The Clarity II’s advanced technology, including short pulse durations and adjustable settings, enables effective treatment of some fine, light-coloured hair. If you have fair hair, we will assess your suitability during your consultation.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of laser hair removal treatments required various from person to person and depends on what part of the body you are having treated.
How long do I have to wait between treatments?
Each hair follicle goes through a different growth phase. Laser works when your hair is in its active growth stage. Several treatments typically 4-8 weeks apart, are required to give your hair follicles time to cycle through all growth phases.
Does laser hair removal cause ingrown hairs?
No, it prevents them.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Our medical grade laser machines are very effective and give out laser pulses that are very short and are combined with a cooling spray system. With treatments undertaken by our expert and highly trained dermal team, the Clarity II is one of the most comfortable hair reduction systems available. Most patients just feel a mild “snapping” on the skin. The cooling system soothes the skin almost instantly protecting it and making the overall experience comfortable.
What areas can you treat?
We can treat any part of the body that has unwanted hair growth. Hair removal on the body including chest, back, abdomen, arms, legs, underarms, bikini line, G-String or Brazilian and the face including lip, chin can be treated at any of our clinics.
What is the first step?
Prior to any treatment, you have a consultation with one of our dermal team. This is to ensure laser hair removal is right for you.
*Individual results may vary. Any procedure carries risks. Your therapist will discuss these risks, and how you can reduce them before and after treatment, in your consultation.
