Microdermabrasion is a light exfoliation technique to remove dead skin cells.
The procedure is ideal for treating pigmentation and sun damage, which will result in softer, smoother skin.
Microdermabrasion treatment is available at our Geelong and Ballarat Skin & Laser Clinics.
What is a microdermabrasion?
A facial microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment.
Microdermabrasion can be a cost effective treatment for skin rejuvenation and can help with the early signs of ageing including pigmentation.
- improves skin texture
- evens out pigmentation
- unclogs pores
- skin clarity
- skin elasticity
How does microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion uses a light abrasive instrument to gently sand the skin. It removes the thicker, uneven outer layer of the skin which contains dead skin cells. When you remove this layer, the body interprets it as an injury and replaces the lost skin cells with new, healthy tissue.
What can I expect during a microdermabrasion treatment?
A microdermabrasion takes around 30 minutes for the face.
Whilst the treatment may be a little uncomfortable, it should not hurt.
Your skin will be slightly red after the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
This will be determined at the initial consultation and then reassessed at each appointment. During this time our dermal team will put together a treatment plan and discuss treatment goals.
To achieve the desired result patients will be advised to undertake treatment over a four week period.
