PICO Genesis enlighten III is available at our Geelong, Warrnambool and Ballarat Clinics.

PICO Laser

PICO Genesis enlighten III uses technology to help eliminate pigmented lesions including melasma, hyperpigmentation and sunspots, while brightening and smoothing out your complexion.

Generally, there’s no downtime and minimal discomfort.

The beauty is, it’s suitable for ALL skin types offering many people renewed hope in the fight against pigmentation and premature ageing.

PICO Genesis is made possible by Cutera’s “enlighten” device – the first multi-wavelength (1064nm and 532nm) and picosecond-plus-nanosecond multi-application laser platform.

What can the PICO Genesis treat?

PICO Genesis can treat a variety of  skin conditions, including melasma, sunspots, pigmentation and other skin discolouration on the skin that are a result of genetics, pregnancy, the ageing process, acne and more.

It can be used on the face, décolletage, hands and other areas of the body.

Not only does it offer overall collagen stimulation but it also improves skin texture and tone.

How does the PICO Genesis work?

PICO Genesis is one of a kind in that it uses energy and wavelengths that no other laser to date has used, in order to focus on problem areas – whether it is dark spots, sun damage, pigmentation or acne scars.

It uses three highly effective laser wavelengths in ultra short pulses to shatter the pigment without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. This non-ablative laser is unlike any other conventional laser that normally requires twice the number of treatments. The result is a brighter, radiant and more even complexion in as little as two treatments.

Is there any pre-treatment preparation required?

Our dermal team will discuss any pre-treatment preparation at consultation. All skin is different so your preparation will be tailored to your skin.  Sun protection with an SPF 50 applied daily is advised pre and post treatment. It is important that you have had no recent sun exposure for one week prior to treatment, that is, no sun or wind burn.

What can I expect during a PICO Genesis treatment?

During the treatment, the device is placed on the target area and is gently swept over the skin’s surface, delivering energy.

Usually a 45-60 minute procedure, the PICO Genesis laser treatment is well tolerated and many people describe the feeling as “electric rain” against the skin.

It is normal to experience some temporary redness, swelling or flaking in more aggressive cases, but there is generally little to no downtime after this treatment.

While stubborn melasma may take slightly longer, results may be seen in as little as one to two treatments. Ongoing maintenance treatments are encouraged to sustain results over time.

What’s the difference between PICO Genesis and PICO Brite?

PICO Brite is an introductory to the full PICO Genesis in that it utilises one of the three wavelengths that the PICO enlighten III offers.

It’s a gentle way to get clearer skin and is suitable for all skin types.

PICO Brite gives excellent results without interrupting your daily activities and is a 30 – 45 minute treatment.

The treatment is comfortable and quite relaxing and a great introduction to PICO Genesis Laser and sits at a lower price point than a full face PICO Genesis treatment.

You may experience some mild ‘pinkness’ with PICO Brite immediately after treatment but this soon disappears. You can apply mineral make-up directly after treatment.
