Chemical Peels
Medical-grade chemical peels use exfoliating acids to stimulate cell turnover, addressing pigmentation, fine lines and uneven texture.
About the Treatment
Medical-grade chemical peels are available in varying strengths and work by exfoliating the outermost layers of skin, encouraging cell turnover to help resurface and improve the overall condition of the skin. Depending on the strength and formulation, peels may help address concerns including pigmentation, fine lines, uneven texture, and dullness, while supporting hydration and collagen production.
Your practitioner will select the peel strength and formulation most appropriate for your skin type and the concerns you're looking to address. Peels may be used on their own or as part of a broader treatment plan, layered alongside other treatments such as laser or LED therapy.
-
Your practitioner will assess your skin and select a peel suited to your concerns and skin type. During treatment, the peel solution is applied to clean skin and left on for a set time before being removed or neutralised. You may feel a warming, tingling or stinging sensation during application, which varies depending on the strength of the peel used.
-
This depends on your skin and the concern being addressed — some people see a difference after a single peel, while others benefit from a short course of several sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Your practitioner will recommend a plan suited to your skin at consultation.
-
As with any skin treatment, chemical peels carry risks. These can include, but are not limited to:
Redness, sensitivity or irritation following treatment
Peeling or flaking of the skin in the days after treatment
Changes in skin pigmentation, particularly for deeper peels or certain skin types
In rare cases, scarring or infection
Your practitioner will discuss the risks relevant to the specific peel recommended for you before treatment.
-
Skin may be more sensitive to the sun following a peel, so diligent sun protection is important during recovery. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare instructions, which may include avoiding certain skincare actives for a period, and will let you know when it's appropriate to resume your regular routine.
-
The number of sessions needed, and how quickly you notice a change, depends on the strength of peel used and your specific skin concerns. Results from a peel aren't permanent — skin continues to age and is exposed to the sun regardless of treatment, so many people have peels periodically as part of an ongoing skincare routine, rather than as a one-off. Your practitioner may advise on a suitable maintenance schedule for your skin. As with any skin treatment, individual results vary. Your practitioner will discuss realistic expectations for your specific skin at consultation.
Costs will be confirmed during your consultation, tailored to your treatment plan.
